Mechanical Assembler

Shift: FIRST (Monday to Friday from 6 am to 2:30 pm) Saturdays as needed

Pay Rate: $13.00
– 18.00 / hr (depending on experience)
Our Opportunity:

Our client performs in-house manufacturing capabilities including sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, welding, plating, wet and powder painting, electrical and mechanical assembly, and design engineering support.

What you’ll do as a Mechanical Assembler:

The mechanical assembler is responsible for constructing assemblies, sub-assemblies, and other components.

Knowledge of how to install mechanical fasteners and heli-coils as well as the ability to use various power and hand tools will ensure completion of jobs in an efficient way.

Assemblers will be required to inspect their own parts and know how to handle delicate pieces so as to not damage them.

Must be able to disassemble faulty units and replace the part.

Some employees may be required to operate a forklift.

Employees must be able to use the software, Epicor, to enter job specifications and look up production information such as due dates or a BOM.

The mechanical assembler must be willing to act as a team member and aim to exceed all lead/supervisor requests.

Goals: Specific metrics include but are not limited to:
Timely Delivery: achieve 98% on time delivery Quality: achieve 98% internal yield, 99.5% customer acceptance Efficiency: 95% Profitability: support the profitability objectives of every part manufactured

Reports To: Mechanical Assemblers will need to report directly to the lead to ensure their success by following responsibilities, including but are not limited to:
Metrics: Follow team metrics laid out by the lead; maintain the strategy used to keep pace with production needs; must be able to interpret all job documents including specification reports, blueprints, and travelers; able to assemble a part within the accepted guidelines of efficiency.

Team Performance: Follow all expectations and performance standards set by the lead; make sure to have the knowledge and skills needed to perform the job; must be able to properly clean tools used; can verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications; attend all training sessions set up by the lead.

Team Work: Help other team members when they need assistance; ask lead for any assistance needed.

Work Environment: Strive to maintain an ethical, non-discriminatory and safe work environment; follow effective communication lines/methods; see lead or supervisor for any conflict and problems that occur; follow all safety rules; maintain a clean and organized working environment.

Continuous Improvement: Aim to have no NCMR reports by inspecting all parts to the specifications on the blueprint; being able to rework parts that are initially rejected; always striving for improvement in product efficiency and quality.

Status Reporting: Update lead or supervisor on status of jobs when requested.
Work Experience
Special Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: High school diploma or equivalent required and prior experience working in mechanical/electrical assembly.

Must be able to solve basic algebra problems.
Effort Factors: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs of parts or assemblies.

Manual dexterity of both hands is needed as well as 20/20 vision (can be corrected with glasses) to visualize blueprints and parts clearly.

Must be very detail oriented and be able to keep a steady pace while working.
