Technical Sales Engineer – Customer Solutions

Position Summary
OPEX Corporation is searching for a full-time Senior Sales Engineer to join the Customer Solutions team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the technical automation sales process. The role is focused on developing solutions for automated warehouse and fulfillment centers built upon OPEX’s Warehouse Automation product lines. The Customer Solutions team aligns customer needs with data-driven solutions.

Qualifications

  • BS in a Hardware or Software Engineering discipline required.
  • 5+ years of Engineering experience in Warehouse / Fulfillment Center automation required.
  • Technical Sales or Distribution Operations experience preferred.
  • Detailed understanding of the material flows and ERP / WES / WMS / WCS interactions that drive automation.
  • Strong planning, organization, communication, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Prior customer sales experience required.
  • Experience with AS/RS, shuttle systems, AMR, AGV, pick station, rebin station, conveyance, RFID and inline barcode scanning preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of processes within distribution network.
  • Ability to create and present detailed project documentation in a competitive environment.
  • Experience working with data analysis, simulation and emulation.
  • Ability to multi-task and support multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to own project assignments and support the engineering, sales and project management requirements.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites as necessary (typically 25%).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct joint sales calls to evaluate and present technical information with an Account Manager.
  • Support the Business Development and Customer Solutions teams by reviewing pre-sale opportunities to determine unique system requirements.
  • Responsible to assist the Account Manager in selling automated warehouse solutions to new and existing clients.
  • Develop an understanding of target customer needs based on industry knowledge, market offerings, ecosystems and relationships.
  • Guide Sales in developing technical documentation to support initial meetings/conversations.
  • Collaborate with the Applications Engineering team on layout, system drawings and technical documentation to scope project.
  • Collaborate with data analysts, simulation design, software engineers, Project Managers / Coordinators, Integrators, and Customer during the design, installation, integration, and commissioning phases of each project.
  • Support the commissioning team with technical documentation, engineering guidance, design modifications, and on-site problem solving as required.
  • Ownership of project definition and requirements.
  • Provide accurate and concise status updates to Sales, Project Management and Business Management.
  • Support Initial Installation at customer sites.

Physical/Work Environments

  • Professional office environment.
  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time may be required.
  • Occasional travel to customer and OPEX sites.
  • Occasional international travel may be required.
  • Employee will frequently lift up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
