Director of Compliance

The Director of Compliance will be responsible for supporting the ongoing development of the Company’s Compliance, Privacy, and various Risk Management programs. This person is a resource and business partner to the organization and will work collaboratively with the internal operations leadership team to support the prevention of illegal, unethical or improper conduct.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • In partnership with the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer, develop, implement, manage and monitor an effective Compliance, Privacy and Risk programs and manage the day-to-day operations of the Compliance department.
  • Create policies and procedures related to the various areas of the department’s oversight in alignment with government laws and regulations. Comply with, promote, and support Company compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Manage an auditing and monitoring program that will support compliance with Company policies and procedures, laws and regulations and business objectives. This position will also participate in third party audits conducted by principle owners, SOC 2, Type II and Client audits. Collaborate with business owners to implement appropriate remediation activities when areas of deficiency are identified.
  • Review and/or develop materials and/or educational sessions to provide feedback and training on revenue cycle, ethics, risk mitigation and privacy/security compliance to employees.
  • Partner with the Security and Information Technology Services team to ensure compliance with privacy/security laws and regulations, evaluate potential privacy/security risks and solutions to increase the protection of sensitive information and participate in potential HIPAA violation investigations and response.
  • Manage various risk programs such as Enterprise Risk Management and Vendor Risk Management. This includes facilitating risk assessments, identifying opportunities for risk prevention improvements, reporting risk assessment results to the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer, and ensuring risk mitigation activities are appropriately deployed and monitored.
  • Leverage laws, regulations, guidelines from the regulating bodies to provide guidance on complex compliance matters.
  • Actively participate in a wide variety of Company initiatives, including acquisition/merger integration activities, help ensure legal requirements are met, that decisions align with the Company’s risk appetite and identify patterns and opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in the response to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and Code of Ethics and Business Conduct by evaluating the initiation of investigative procedures and depending on the issue, lead investigation activities. Through the investigation process, identify and oversee the implementation of appropriate remediation activities and ensure corrective action occurs when appropriate.
  • Assist the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer in responding to government and payor audits/investigations
  • Participate in client discussions that require input on compliance, privacy/security, or risk.
  • Participate in and/or lead special compliance projects.
  • Establish effective interdepartmental communication and coordinate compliance activities and improvements, both directly and through the appropriate committee structures.
  • Able to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality.
  • Align conduct with the Company’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and support the Company’s Ethics and Compliance Program.
  • Comply with all internal policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in Company provided training and education.
  • Ensure individual compliance with all privacy and security rules and regulations and commit to the protection of all Company confidential information, including but not limited to, Personal Health Information.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • 5+ years of compliance management/compliance officer experience working in healthcare revenue cycle compliance with a focus that includes privacy, risk; 7+ years of overall experience in the healthcare revenue cycle discipline.
  • Experience working with a global operation, particularly India.
  • Ability to make independent decisions where applicable.
  • Strong personnel management skills in a remote work environment.
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, law, healthcare administration or a related field is required. Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) is preferred.

Regular eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity is required to operate office equipment. The ability to perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day and function in an environment with constant interruptions is required. At times, incumbents are subject to sitting for prolonged periods. Infrequently, incumbent must be able to lift and move material weighing up to 20 lbs. Incumbent may experience elevated levels of stress during periods of increased activity and with work entailing multiple deadlines.
